National Faith Leaders Announce 7 Days of Fasting and Prayer to Urge Trump Administration to Protect DACA and TPS

WASHINGTON, DC – On Tuesday, August 29th, a coalition of faith-based organizations led by the Franciscan Action Network and Disciples Refugee & Immigration Ministries, Church World Service, Sisters of Mercy, and others will announce 7 days of prayer and fasting from August 30 to September 5, imploring the Trump Administration to not repeal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protection Status (TPS).  WHO:  Rev. John L. McCullough, President and CEO of Church World Service, Patrick Carolan, Executive Director of the Franciscan Action Network, Rev. Dr. Sharon Stanley-Rea, Director, Disciples Refugee & Immigration Ministries (RIM), and other faith leaders, impacted community members and GOP and Dem. Congressmembers who support DACA are invited to speak

From August 15 to September 5, immigrant and community leaders organized by NAKASEC and the Franciscan Action Network are standing vigil in front of the White House, 24 hours a day, calling on the Trump Administration to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protection Status (TPS) programs. September 5 is the deadline 10 state Attorney Generals have given President Trump to repeal DACA, putting 800,000 young people at risk of deportation.
