“Raising Our Voices for Justice and Opportunity”

By March 29, 2006No Comments

On March 7, over 800 immigrants and advocates traveled to the New York State capital to voice support for increased funding of immigrant services and for legislation that protects immigrant communities. The annual advocacy day sponsored by the New York Immigration Coalition included an energetic rally at the Capitol to call on State legislators to fund an immigrant integration initiative, improve access to healthcare, and ensure justice for immigrant workers. YKASEC met with members of the transportation committee in the Assembly and Senate to push for legislation that ensures equal access to driver’s licenses, regardless of immigration status. YKASEC worked with Korean American organizations to mobilize over 60 community members for the advocacy day in Albany.
