DREAM Act is Moving in the Senate!

Today, champions of the DREAM Act in the Senate took an important leap in moving the DREAM Act forward this year. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL), Richard Lugar (R-IN), Chuck Hagel (R-NE) introduced DREAM as an attachment to the Department of Defense authorization bill (HR 1585), a bill already being debated.

DREAM’s attachment will be voted on Wednesday at the earliest and the entire bill could be brought to a vote as early as this week.

The DREAM Act would open the doors for immigrant students to go to college and to have a future. Congress’ failure to enact immigration reform legislation this year should not prevent immigrant young people from achieving their dreams.
