Il Kwa Nori First Solo Percussion Performance

The renowned Korean American Poongmul Troupe, Il Kwa Nori (Work & Play) will present its first ever solo performance! Presented by the Korean American Resource & Cultural Center and funded by the National Endowment For the Arts, Illinois Arts Council and City of Chicago City Arts, Il Kwa Nori has been known for their mastery of poongmul, Korean traditional percussion steeped in music, theatre, dance and pageantry.

With the theme of “Kil Kun Ak” – which means “moving forward to a common goal”-, the group will showcase diverse percussion genres: solo-instrument play, 4-instrument play and a grand finale of Pan-Gut where percussionists perform while dancing with seven-feet ribonned hats.

This one-time only performance will change your understanding of Korean traditional percussion!!
