On January 15, NAKASEC attended a panel discussion in DC on the intersections and struggles of the Immigrant Rights and Civil Rights Movements in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. After the discussion, community members marched to the Supreme Court to urge the justices to hear
the Texas vs. U.S. case. On January 19, the Supreme Court took up this case regarding President Obama’s executive order to expand DACA and implement DAPA. NAKASEC, KRC, and KRCC are encouraged by this step towards providing 5 million immigrant parents and young adults a path to work legally and receive temporary relief from possible separation from their loved ones in the U.S.
