YKASEC Defends Minority Voter Rights

YKASEC testified at two New York City hearings on December 12 and 13 to defend the rights of Limited English Proficient voters.At the New York City Campaign Finance Board hearing, YKASEC and other organizations testified on the necessity of voting guides in other languages and urged the Board to expand the guides’ distribution.At the Voter Assistance Commission hearing, YKASEC testified on the discrimination voters faced at poll sites during the November Mayoral Elections and urged the commission to address these recurring problems for future elections.
