YKASEC and the Korean Chinese Association of New York announced the start of “Workers’ Rights in the Korean American Community” at a press conference on January 27. The initiative is part of YKASEC and the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund’s (AALDEF) Workers’ Rights Project.Currently in New York there are 20-30,000 Korean Chinese immigrants and the numbers are rising. Korean Chinese workers are often treated poorly, violated of their rights, and work for low wages. YKASEC will be working with the Korean Chinese Association to provide monthly community forums on workers’ rights, free legal clinics, and other legal services
