National Week of Action

By March 28, 2006No Comments

September 20th to September 25th marked the one year anniversary of the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride campaign. To celebrate this event pushed members of Congress to focus on comprehensive immigration reform, over 70 cities participated in actions to promote pending legislations such as the DREAM Act, SOLVE Act, and the Civil Liberties Restoration Act. These legislations address immigration reform issues much needed in this country.A highlight of the week was the September 21 mobilization for the national lobby day.

YKASEC-Empowering the Korean American Community and the Korean American Resource & Cultural Center both sent representatives to speak to Congressional representatives about some of the legislation that would reform our immigration system. Given that the DREAM Act Fast Vigil was also occurring, the visits were also an opportunity to highlight the DREAM Act.
