[CA Action] Stop the Attack on Immigrants

By January 30, 2006No Comments

Members of Congress have turned their backs on immigrants by passing the most anti-immigrant bill in 80 years.  The “Border Protection, Antiterrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act (H.R. 4437) passed in the House on December 19, 2005.  H.R. 4437 will:
· criminalize the nation’s 11 million undocumented immigrants, including 1.6 million children
· criminalize priests, health care workers and social service staff who perform everyday good deeds without regard to immigration status
· tear families apart by deporting the parents of 3 million U.S. citizen children
· jeopardize public safety by authorizing police to enforce immigration laws
