On Sept.17, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) pledged to introduce comprehensive immigration reform legislation this year. Less than a month later he announced the bill’s principles in front of thousands who came to Washington, D.C.
Now YOU, your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and others will have the opportunity to hear directly from Congressman Gutierrez about the bill and his legislative strategy via a virtual national townhall on Nov. 18 (5 p.m. PST/6 p.m. MDT/7 p.m. CDT/8 p.m. EST).
The briefing is sponsored by the Reform Immigration FOR America campaign, a nationally coordinated effort that brings multiple sectors together – including Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Latinos, African Americans, community, faith, business and labor – under one tent to promote comprehensive immigration reform. The time to get involved is NOW!
HOW CAN MY PARTICIPATION MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
By joining thousands of people hosting house parties and listening to the call, you’re involving yourself in your community and advancing immigration reform as we build toward the critical early months of 2010.
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
Join the virtual townhall by telephone. To get the call-in information, you must register. Better yet, host a house party for a group of your family and friends to listen in at the same time! To register visit: http://actions.reformimmigrationforamerica.org/t/5324/content.jsp?content_KEY=2968. If you cannot host, but want to attend a house party already being organized in your city already by an AAPI organization, contact Lianna and Sookyung.
