DACA Renewal Updates

Chicago, IL – In light of the recent ruling from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California to block the termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, NAKASEC and affiliates, HANA Center of greater Chicago and the Korean Resource Center (KRC) of Los Angeles and Orange County, strongly encourage all DACA recipients to fill out their renewal applications as soon as possible.

Although this ruling provides some safety for our undocumented young people, it is not a permanent decision, and it is unknown how long this window of opportunity will last. Even if one’s work permit expires in more than 6 months, one can and should apply for DACA renewal. Folks with expired work permits can still apply for renewal.

NAKASEC and affiliates are available for free DACA renewal consultation and application assistance. Contact information can be found on the NAKASEC, HANA Center, and KRC websites.  More information can be found on our DACA renewals one-pager (available in Korean and English) which reviews who can apply for DACA renewal and information about  other resources.
