“We refuse to be intimidated by Trump’s hateful message to send Border Patrol SWAT teams to sanctuary cities”
This is only an attempt to bolden his anti-immigrant base and intimidate our communities
Chicago, IL – On February 14, 2020, the New York Times released a report that the Trump Administration will be sending essentially Border Patrol SWAT teams this month to sanctuary cities.
Becky Belcore, Executive Director of the National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC), stated:
“We condemn president Trump’s plan to militarize our nation’s cities with SWAT-like teams that will only intimidate and terrorize our people. This plan is an obvious attack on cities that have adopted sanctuary policies that welcome and protect immigrants.
We want our community members out there to know that we are here with them. We reject these paramilitary agents, and we call on the general public to be in solidarity with immigrants at this time. An attack on one of us, is an attack on us all.
We also call on Congress to abolish ICE and CBP and create a pathway to citizenship for all immigrants.
We will not stand by as Trump directly attacks our communities. We will fight back and protect our community members!”
