NAKASEC Calls for the Freedom of Daniel Ramirez Medina

The National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC), Korean Resource Center (KRC) and Hana Center demand that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement immediately release Daniel Ramirez Medina, a 23 year old DREAMer who was unjustly detained last week in Seattle.

Brought to the U.S. at the age of seven, Mr. Medina is a recipient of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which granted him and 750,000 other young people a work visa and the right to work and reside in the United States legally.  The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is still reviewing and granting DACA permits, and thereby, the action to detain Mr. Medina is a direct violation of his rights.

This action is an attack on all young people who have lived in America for most of their lives, call this country their home, and have much to contribute to our economy and society.  The uptick on indiscriminate raids and deportations does nothing to make America safe and only serves to tear families apart.

Please sign this United We Dream petition to urge Secretary John Kelly of the Department of Homeland Security to release Mr. Medina from detention NOW.

NAKASEC, KRC and the Hana Center are operating a 24-Hour Immigrant Hotline for community members in crisis in the Korean and English languages.  If you are a community member in need of assistance or have questions, call 1-844-500-3222.
