NAKASEC, KRC, and KRCC Release Korean and English Materials on Administrative Relief
Washington, D.C.– NAKASEC hosted a press conference to announce the release of informational materials about administrative relief on immigration for the Korean American and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. The materials, which are available in Korean and English, will help eligible community members prepare for the expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and the new Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA) programs, as well as notify them about the provisional waivers of unlawful presence expansion.
Dae Joong (DJ) Yoon, Executive Director of NAKASEC, said: “We remember the influx of calls and appointments for application assistance when DACA was first announced in 2012. As a result, we want to make applying for DACA and DAPA as easy as possible for eligible community members. As we await further news about application acceptance dates and application forms from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), NAKASEC, KRC, and KRCC have been developing in-language materials to help Korean community members prepare for the application process. Keeping our community informed and listening to their suggestions and concerns have been and continue to be our top priority.”
“I encourage the Korean American community to consult NAKASEC’s in-language materials on the executive action on immigration to see if you are eligible and to start preparing to apply for DACA and DAPA. NAKASEC also opens its doors to community members to apply for DACA, and soon DAPA, every Thursday from 1 PM to 6 PM. As an active supporter in the Korean American community, I am excited to see this opportunity to engage with our community members,” said Grace Han Wolf, Herndon Town Hall Council Member.
