NAKASEC and Affiliates Commemorate May Day in Support of Immigrant and Workers Rights
WASHINGTON DC– On Thursday, May 1, 2014, community, labor, faith and immigrant rights leaders in about 60 cities drew support from California to Washington DC for immigrant and workers rights on this year’s May Day.
Below is a joint statement by Dae Joong (DJ) Yoon, executive director of the National Korean American Service & Education Consortium, Inhe Choi, interim executive director of the Korean American Resource and Cultural Center in Chicago, and Hee Joo Yoon, executive director of the Korean Resource Center in Los Angeles.
“Across the nation our communities are mobilizing on May 1. We will then carry this momentum into the coming months to underscore the urgency to stop separating families by ending the massive deportations of Asian Americans and other immigrant communities and providing hardworking parents and young adults with a path to citizenship. We march to provide the next generation with an opportunity to live out the American dream as dedicated students and workers in the only country they call home.”
