NAKASEC and its affiliates the Korean Resource Center (KRC) of Los Angeles and the Korean American Resource & Cultural Center (KRCC) of greater Chicago are partners of the Women’s March on Washington, to be held Saturday, January 21st starting at 10am in Washington DC.

Korean and Asian American girls and women actively challenge sexism everyday, but we are not usually recognized for doing so. That is an important reason why NAKASEC, KRC, and KRCC have organized a contingent of Korean and Asian American girls and women, mothers, daughters, sisters, families, friends, and allies for the Women’s March on Washington.

We will bring our bodies, voices, and drums to be part of a larger women’s movement for equity. With our sisters and allies, we will stand up to protect the progress women have made towards breaking glass ceilings, establishing equal pay for equal work, fighting racism, defeating homophobia, resisting xenophobia, controlling our own bodies, eliminating the violence against us, and being treated equally in all arenas. We will bring ourselves to ensure Asian American presence and voices in the larger women of color and women’s movements.

To join NAKASEC’s contingent, please meet us at:
1) 8:00 a.m.:  At the Westminster Presbyterian Church (400 I Street SW, Washington, DC 20024). The closest metro stop is Waterfront (Green Line). We will leave by 8:30 a.m. to meet with other AAPI groups, labor, and immigrant rights organizations at Garfield Park. Shoutout to AFL-CIO for securing the park for non-labor groups to gather!

2) 9:15 a.m.: At Garfield Park (intersection of 3rd and G Streets SE). This contingent is going to depart at 9:30 a.m. and march to the rally starting point at 3rd and Independence Streets, SW. Closest metros are Navy Yard and Capitol Hill South.
