Yasmin Jiesoo (지수) Yoon was born in Arlington, Virginia, and moved to South Korea at the age of three. She vividly remembers her first day moving to Baltimore and seeing first-hand the persistence of segregation, mass incarceration and impacts of redlining in the stark divide between the college campus and surrounding African American neighborhoods. During college, she worked on efforts to increase affordable housing and became very interested in applying critical theories to her personal and political life.

Yasmin brings a passion for realizing transformative justice to her role as Immigrant Justice Community Organizer at NAKASEC Virginia as she works together with Asian American communities. She is bilingual in Korean and English. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, painting and playing with her cats.
