Educator Guide (in Eng/Kor) on supporting undocumented students and their families!

By January 13, 2020No Comments

Educators have a responsibility to protect their students from harm and to make them feel safe and loved. This also applies to undocumented students. Educators have a responsibility to ensure that undocumented young people are protected from xenophobia in the classroom and from deportation at the hands of ICE.

ICYMI, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), United We Dream, NILC, and other groups put together an educator’s guide on resources and tools to help protect and prepare youth and families in case of an ICE raid (link below).

In addition, NAKASEC translated this guide into Korean for our impacted Korean speaking community members. 1 out of every 7 Asians are undocumented. It is paramount that we are intentional about language access with respect to resources for undocumented communities.
