New Allies at DREAM Action!

By August 18, 2017August 23rd, 2017No Comments

Despite the heat and humidity, Days 2 and 3 of DREAM Action brought new participants, volunteers, allies, donations and energy! We received many thanks and encouragement from those passing by including other DACAmented brothers and sisters. A special thanks to co-sponsoring organization United We Dream for providing us with hats for the bright sun and printing us new pickets. If you are in the DC area this weekend, please stop by Murrow Park and the White House to join us!

Due to our round the clock presence at the White House, we have been meeting new supporters from across the country! Lisa, a teacher from Southern California who is visiting Washington, D.C. with her family, shared how her son is DACAmented. After hearing about our action and work, she donated $100 on the spot!

DREAM Action youth leaders played pungmul, traditional Korean percussion, in front of the White House to call attention to the need to protect DACA and TPS. Performances were live streamed on social media, reaching nearly 7,000 people around the world, and can be seen at www.facebook.com/nakasec.

Defending DACA in Chicago!

Calling to protect DACA in Chicago, HANA Center DACAmented leader Luke Hwang spoke at a press conference with Senator Richard Durbin and business leaders this morning. He said, “Thanks to DACA I felt a sense of hope and empowerment…it is a source of strength for the years ahead.”
