All Talk, No Action

On July 16, 2004, NAKASEC along with other leaders including National Council of La Raza, United Farm Workers of America, the Nueva Vista Group, Service Employees International Union, and Majan Jean – a student facing imminent deportation – participated in a telephonic press briefing around the Ag Jobs bill and the DREAM Act. The speakers highlighted their disappointment in the two legislations not making headway in Congress despite the significant bi-partisan support it has. EunSook Lee, NAKASEC executive director stressed the importance of immigration reform to Asian Pacific American voters for the 2004 elections.
