(October – November, 1996)
With the purpose of encouraging Korean American political participation, NAKASEC and its affiliates have carried out a voter education campaign for the 1996 presidential elections. The Project included a broad range of activities, such as voter registration drives, election hotlines, “How To Vote” seminars, interpretation at the key polling sites and Asian Pacific American exit polls. NAKASEC also published the “Guide to 1996 Elections,” a non-partisan Korean language guide which explains the federal electoral process, highlights key election issues and impresses on the importance of Korean American political participation. 50,000 copies were nationally distributed with the assistance of NAKASEC’s affiliates and the Korea Times of USA. NAKASEC’s voter education work was featured in CNN news.
