Oppose the Border Protection, Antiterrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act

IMMIGRANT RIGHTS ACTION ALERT!

House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), the author of the REAL ID
Act, is fast-tracking another mean-spirited and far-reaching anti-immigrant bill that will have a
devastating impact on immigrant families and all our communities.

The Border Protection, Anti-Terrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act (H.R. 4437) seeks to
criminalize over 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. as well as U.S. citizens and
permanent residents who come in contact with them. Other disturbing provisions would broaden mandatory detention while restricting judicial review and create a mandatory Employment Eligibility Verification System that would affect the rights of every worker in the U.S.

ACT NOW!

Now is the time to make your voices heard. The vote is scheduled for a full vote of the House of
Representatives as early as this Thursday, December 15. Call, fax or e-mail your Congressional
Representative TODAY and urge them to vote against Rep. Sensenbrenner’s Border Protection,
Anti-Terrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act.

Hello, my name is (your NAME) and I am calling from (your CITY, STATE).  I urge you to vote
against the Sensenbrenner bill, H.R. 4437, the “Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal
Immigration Control Act.” This mean-spirited, anti-immigrant bill will do nothing to make our nation
and communities safer and instead unfairly criminalize millions of immigrants overnight. This is not a
solution to fixing our nation’s failed immigration system. We need realistic, workable and humane
immigration reform legislation that will keep our economy growing and keep our families together. I urge you vote against H.R. 4437. Thank you.”
