My name is Tu Thomas Hoang and I have lived in New Orleans for 16 years. I am 22 years old and am a political science graduate student. I volunteer to serve my community because I see a great need, especially right now after Hurricane Katrina. And as a member of the Vietnamese American Young Leaders Association (VAYLA), I work with youth because they are the next generation and I want them to fulfill the American Dream. I decided to represent my community and go to DC because I want to communicate my belief that governments should ensure fair and adequate accessibility of basic human needs such as healthcare and education to all American citizens.
