This Monday, March 22 at 6pm EST, we are holding a vigil to mourn the Asian American women who were murdered in Atlanta. To recognize the long history of sexual violence against Asian women, the vigil will be next to the Statue of Peace (소녀상) in front of the Korea Times building in Annandale (7601 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003). In the spirit of unity, we encourage Asian American women, non-binary folks, and allies to come together, weep, vent, listen, and speak in our native languages against racist and misogynistic violence.
The vigil will consist of an open mic, music, and dancing. Participants are encouraged to bring flowers and candles, or use the candles that we will provide at the event. A donation box will be set up, and all contributions will go to AAAJ-Atlanta’s fund to directly support the victims and their families. 버지니아 한인타운 에넌데일에서 애틀랜타에서 아시안 여성들의 총기살인 사건을 애도하는 추모식을 마련합니다. 오랜 시간 아시아 여성에 대한 성폭력의 역사를 조명하는 의미에서 애넌데일 평화의 소녀상에서 추모장소를 마련하게 되었습니다. 아시안들의 단결을 도모하는 의미에서 아시아계 미국인 여성들, 논바이너리 분들이 한자리에 모이는 자리이며, 인종차별 및 여성 혐오적 폭력에 맞서 애도하고, 속풀이도 하고, 모국어로 이야기를 나누고, 서로의 이야기를 들을수 있는 자리입니다.
추모식에는 오픈 마이크 발언대, 음악 및 문화공연들으로 구성됩니다. 각자 꽃과 촛불을 가져 오시고 피켓과 문화공연, 발언등에 참여 해 주시기 바랍니다.
