NAKASEC and Affiliates Congratulate LGBT Community for Historic Win

Supreme Court rules that marriage is a constitutional right for same-sex couples across the U.S.

WASHINGTON DC— Today, the Supreme Court ruled 5 to 4 that marriage is a constitutional right for same-sex couples in all states and territories of the United States of America. This historic decision has been made during LGBT Pride Month, a time recognizing the need to defend the rights of our LGBT community members.

Dae Joong Yoon, executive director of the National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC), Jenny Seon, interim executive director of the Korean Resource Center (KRC) in Los Angeles and Orange County, California, and Inhe Choi, executive director of the Korean American Resource & Cultural Center (KRCC) in Chicago, Illinois, issued the following statement:

“NAKASEC, KRC, and KRCC have historically supported marriage equality and congratulate NQAPIA and community advocates who have been fighting so hard for this victory that is long overdue. No members of our community, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and immigration status, should be denied equal protection of the laws allowing couples to fully embrace the American values of love and family.”
