USCIS Conducts a Korean Community Engagement Session on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

Washington, DC – On Wednesday, August 27, 2014, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Eastern), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will conduct a national Korean-language engagement (Sulmyounghwae) session as part of our ongoing series of multilingual public engagements on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

In two years, DACA has transformed the lives of young people and their family members. Many youth faced uncertainty with a future filled with challenges, but DACA has opened doors for a better future and brought hope for citizenship. DACA was announced after years of organizing for the Federal DREAM Act in 2001, driven by undocumented youth leaders empowering their immigrant communities and families.

Each Sulmyounghwae session focuses on an immigration-related topic and includes a presentation and Q&A session with USCIS officials. During the Sulmyounghwae session, USCIS spokespersons provide explanations of the law, regulations, and forms, but do not offer legal advice or provide case specific information.

Our first national Sulmyounghwae session will be on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The event will be held from our Queens, New York Field Office and stakeholders may participate:
In person at our Queens Office located at: 27-35 Jackson Avenue, Queens, New York 11101;
Calling us toll-free on 1-800-779-5793 (password DACA);
Emailing us a question at OPE-Live@uscis.dhs.gov; or
Sending us a question prior to the event via Twitter at @USCIS
